What is "Ohara-ryu SOKA"?
A monthly magazine delivering a wide range of topics useful for learning ikebana, featuring seasonal works by the Ohara School Research Institute throughout the four seasons.NEWS
Hiroki Ohara, Iemoto enters his third year as Editor-in-Chief!As a milestone in the 130th anniversary of the Ohara School's founding, we continue to advance the reexamination of Yoshiki-honii that began in 2025. In 2026, we will introduce the new arrangement method "Mizu wo Miseru Soho" (Water-Revealing Arrangement Method) born from this reexamination! As this is the Ohara School's latest arrangement method, we will provide detailed explanations through our annual special feature to ensure that instructors and all practitioners can master it.
2026 Annual Special Feature: "Reexamining Yoshiki-honii Today"
The 130th anniversary of the Ohara School's founding. Throughout this history, Yoshiki-honii has been passed down through the hands of many people as the foundation of Ohara School ikebana. Now, due to climate change and conditions at production sites, arrangements that were previously possible are becoming increasingly difficult.
To connect the Yoshiki-honii arrangement methods, which are essential to Ohara School ikebana, to the future, we are reviewing and reexamining their essence.
"Ohara-ryu SOKA" will deliver the latest information on this research as an annual special feature.
Popular ongoing series "Ikebana Course" to be renewed starting from the April issue!
We will provide detailed explanations not only of traditional forms and flower arrangements, but also of various expressions.
Twice a year as "Iemoto Special," we will thoroughly explore content that should be learned now.
The May issue will feature Rinpa-cho Ikebana. We provide clear explanations of important points for both those learning for the first time and those who find it challenging no matter how many times they practice. We aim to provide content that leads to deeper learning of Ohara School expressions, so please look forward to it.
